The automotive industry is facing a radical upheaval. And as always, there will be winners and losers here too. But which companies will it affect? The Struktur Management Partner Automotive Study of 2016 showed that small and medium-sized automotive suppliers, in particular, are facing existential challenges in the areas of powertrain and bodywork, and although they are increasingly recognizing this, they have nevertheless taken no or only inadequate measures in key fields of action.
Due to the rapidly increasing dynamics in the public debate since the beginning of 2017 and the positive perception of electromobility, the present publication examines in more detail the preparation of automotive suppliers for the impending electrification.
In our new study we look at current developments in e-mobility and its effect on the added value of SMEs. Based on our survey of suppliers, financers and experts from the automotive industry, we examine the expected effects on corporate planning and the status of the measures that have so far been initiated. Based on this, we identify further needs for action and recommendations.

Struktur Management Partner asked around. Against the background of the unpredictable development, Struktur Management Partner asked automotive suppliers, financiers and other automotive experts between July and September 2017 what measures had already been taken to prepare for the expected upheaval. The companies surveyed are very different in terms of sales and industry focus and are widely distributed across the automotive supplier industry.
