"Conspiracy theories are not a minority phenomenon."
The coronavirus originates from a Chinese laboratory. The government was actually behind the September 11 attacks. And the Americans were never on the moon themselves. Conspiracy theories are a dime a dozen - and they are usually dismissed as crackpot ideas. Sociologist Dr. Andreas Anton has been researching this phenomenon for years and argues for a more differentiated view.
"Good conspiracy theories help to uncover real conspiracies."
He talks to Georgiy Michailov about why the term has such negative connotations, why we tend to only accept explanations that fit into our world view and why good conspiracy theories can be quite helpful. The two also talk about Anton's second passion: the question of extraterrestrial, intelligent life.
"Exosociology deals with the consequences of extraterrestrial life on us."
Anton explains how contact with extraterrestrial life could change our society and reveals when we will finally get a hint of the existence of extraterrestrial life.
